You probably don’t spend a lot of time thinking about your toothbrush. But the condition of your brush affects your smile. With National Toothbrush Day (June 26) coming up, now is a great time to share some tips on how to take care of your toothbrush.

This short video has many good suggestions on keeping your brush in good condition and minimizing bacteria. A few tips we especially like:

  • Don’t just clean your brush. Clean the container it’s stored in.
  • For deep cleaning, you can briefly soak your brush in antibacterial mouthwash or in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water.
  • To avoid cross contamination, consider giving each family member their own tube of toothpaste. And of course, no family members should share a toothbrush!

You’ll get better performance from your brush if you keep it in good shape. Brushing daily is just about the most important thing you can do for your smile, so you’ll want to take care of your toothbrush.

We’re happy to share information and answer any questions about brushing or other aspects of oral hygiene during your cleanings and exams. If you need to schedule a visit, call My Hometown Dentist today at the location most convenient to you:
